4-Day Cape Town to Addo Elephant National Park Tour

Tour starting days: Mondays and Fridays

Day 1
Cape Town to Sedgefield via Oudtshoorn Little Karoo, Oudtshoorn, Cango Caves

We leave the Mother City behind and head into the semi-arid Little Karoo along the scenic Route 62 driving to the town of Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of the world, it is situated in a beautiful, fertile valley between the Outeniqua and Swartberg Mountains. Here you can choose between:

  1. The Cango Caves where we will embark on a1-hour guided tour of the cave system to view its massive caverns and a wonderland of stalactite and stalagmite formations, millions of years old. Cango Caves is a world heritage site and one of the great wonders of the natural world. Or if you enjoy spelunking and don’t mind trying to squeeze through some smaller gaps then you are also welcome to take the 1.5 hour adventure tour!

OR

  1. If caves are not for you, then you will be able to visit an Endangered Wildlife Sanctuary, home to many local and exotic endangered species.

Next is an option to visit an Ostrich Show Farm to learn more about the industry and a chance to get up close.

We then head over the Outeniqua Mountains to the lush coastal region known as the Garden Route where we will head to the beach town of Sedgefield where we spend our first night. If time allows we will also head to the beach for a swim in the Indian Ocean.

Day 2
Sedgefield to Jeffrey’s Bay
Bloukrans Bungee, Elephant Bush Walk & Tsitsikamma National Park

This morning we drive through Knysna on our way to the Crags where you have a number of options to choose from:

  1. Visit a sanctuary fororphaned elephants where you have the option to learn about these gentle giants and go on an Elephant Bush Walk
    OR
  2. Visit Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary where rescued monkeys roam free in a large jungle area

Our next stop is the World’s highest commercial Bungee Jump at 216 meters where you have the opportunity to experience this adrenalin pumping activity. After an adrenaline rush at the bungee we take a walk through the indigenous Tsitsikamma National Park to the Storms River suspension bridges before we head to the famous surfing town of Jeffrey’s Bay where we stay at a backpackers directly on the beach.

Day 3
Jeffrey’s Bay to Addo Elephant National Park to Sedgefield Game Drive (Addo), Surfing /Shopping time (Jeffrey’s bay)
There are 2 options to choose from this morning.

  1. Sleep in and take some time in the morning to explore the town’s many surf factory shops, or go for a surf lesson in one of the most famous surf spots on earth.
    OR
  2. Wake up early and head to Addo Elephant National park where we go on a morning game drive to view the multitudes of wild animals. Addo is home to the Big 5 and it also has the highest concentration of African Elephants in the world!

We then take a relaxed drive back towards Sedgefield for the night. If there is time available we will visit the famous Knysna Heads for some absolutely amazing pictures where the ocean meets the inlet to the Knysna Lagoon.

Day 4
Sedgefield to Cape Town
Return to Cape Town via Sir Lowry’s Pass

After breakfast we begin a beautiful canoe trip down one of the many tranquil rivers in the area, followed by a short hike to a stunning waterfall.
We then visit an Aloe factory in Albertinia and enjoy a wonderful scenic drive via Swellendam and Sir Lowry’s Pass. We arrive back in Cape Town late Thursday afternoon.

Full day Cape Peninsula and Penguin Tour

This full day Tour will take you around the entire Cape peninsula and show you the wonders of Cape Town. From the pristine beaches, to the spectacular sight of Cape Point enjoy a light lunch in Simons Town. Also be sure not to miss the sensational quick visit to the Penguins.

Highlights:

Experience the 114 curves and 9km drive of one of the world’s most scenic and majestic drives – Chapman’s Peak. Hop on at one of the many picnic spots where you can enjoy and take photographs of the breath-taking views of the rugged cliffs, the beaches, the ocean, whales and dolphins!

See the spectacular sight of Cape Point’s towering rock cliffs and the lighthouse, over 250 species of birdlife, baboons, bucks and the Cape Mountain Zebra.

Visit the Jackass penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town and observe their fascinating behaviours up close.

Visit one of the world’s most beautiful gardens – the fascinating Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. (optional).

4-Day Kruger National Park Tour

Day 1
Sunset Drive, Greater Kruger Park
We collect you from your hostel/hotel or OR Tambo International Airport (you will need to have landed, cleared immigration AND have your luggage ready to be collected by 9h00) and travel via Dullstroom or Nelspruit to the lodge in a Big Five Game Reserve. Transfer to an open Landcruiser for a Sunset Drive. After dark, spotlights are used to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner in the open Boma and overnight in air-conditioned chalets at your Lodge

Day 2
Bush Walk, Greater Kruger Park
Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush life. Drive to a remote part of the Balule Game Reserve, where you enjoy a 4h Bush Walk. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals until you can take a photo will remain with you forever. Adrenaline surges will be acute, notwithstanding the presence of your armed ranger. Return to your Lodge for brunch. At around 14h30 we go on an afternoon game drive. Transfer to your Camp where accommodation is in tents equipped with beds and bedding, soap and towels, electric light and fan. Dinner and overnight at your Camp.

Day 3
Orpen Gate, Kruger Park
After breakfast you travel on the open-sided Gameviewer to the Orpen Gate of Kruger. The added elevation and absence of windows allow for excellent viewing and photographic opportunities. Your qualified guide will show you various animals, large and small, that frequent this outstanding wildlife paradise. The zone of Kruger you visit has the highest percentage population of giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala that attract numerous lions and other predators. Dinner and overnight at your Camp.

Day 4
Bush walk at Greater Kruger Park, Johannesburg
We enjoy an early morning Bush Walk accompanied by an armed ranger. You will be shown various interesting details of the bush, including insects, spoor and scats. You have an excellent chance of encountering Buffalo, Nyala and other game on foot. After breakfast, we drive to the Three Rondawels of the Blyde River Canyon. We return you to your hostel or airport at around 17h00.

3-Day Big 5 Safari and Bungy Tour

Day 1
Cape Town to Sedgefield
Overberg, Garden Route, Game Drive, Myoli Beach

We leave the mother city behind and head east along the N2 past Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa to a Private Game Reserve on the edge of the Garden Route. Here we go on a safari where you can see lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, cheetah and giraffe in their natural habitat.

After lunch we will enjoy some fun with a canopy tour, experience the thrill of crossing rope bridges, wobbly crossings and zip wires high up in the trees.

Next we carry on our way to Sedgefield.

We begin our day with a visit to a popular local farmers and craft market in the village. We then make our way to a sanctuary for orphaned elephants where you have the option to learn about these gentle giants and go on an Elephant Bush Walk OR you can choose to visit a Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary where rescued monkeys roam free in a large jungle area.

Our next stop is always one of the highlights of the tour . . . the Bloukrans River Bridge, home to the World’s highest commercial Bungee Jump at 216 meters!

From here it’s back to Sedgefield where you will have some beach time at Myoli beach and then we carry on with the festivities.

Day 3
Sedgefield to Cape Town – via Route 62 and Oudtshoorn Klein Karoo, Oudtshoorn, Cango Caves, Route 62

We head over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Town of Oudtshoorn, known as the “Ostrich Capital of the world”. Here we visit the Cango Caves to go on either an adventure or standard tour through some very large chambers with spectacular limestone formations that are millions of years old. If you chose the adventure tour be prepared to start squeezing through some very tight spaces.

If caves are not for you, then you will be able to visit an Endangered Wildlife Sanctuary, home to many local and exotic endangered species.

We then start heading home along the scenic Route 62 through the Klein Karoo.
